1. Have Interesting Food Options
Gone are the days of the bain marie where people serve themselves cut up roast meats and mashed potatoes and they were more than happy with the meal at an engagement party. Now, guests expect a lot more. You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by offering a grazing table or platter option that is not only visually appealing, but delicious as well. You will be able to reduce your decorating costs, as well as have enough food to satisfy any number of guests.
2. Make sure everyone knows where everything is
Signage is extremely important at an engagement party. If you don’t have clear (& cute!) signage that outlines to your guests where the glasses, napkins, bathrooms, drinks, water and everything else people may require are, you’ll find yourself spending your whole night answering questions. It may even be a good idea to print out an A3 menu of what you are offering for food along with some smaller ones on your tables (depending on your event style) so guests know what to expect.
3. Have an MC or host (that isn’t you!)
Depending on the number of guests you plan on having, you’ll be surprised how quickly time goes by and how out of hand things can get. Recruit a trusted friend, member of your bridal party or family member to keep track of time and ensure you are on schedule. They’ll need to round up guests for your cake cutting, check who wants to say a speech (or not), instruct the photographer, greet guests plus so much more!
